Rotterdam City chooses Roxen

Bright Answers, a Dutch partner of the Swedish company Roxen, has landed a substantial procurement for a new website and Web CMS for the Netherlands’ second biggest city Rotterdam.

In spring 2016, the City of Rotterdam began looking for a supplier for its new website. A total of 12 vendors competed for the chance to be the new supplier. In the first round 12 reference cases of all vendors where analysed. Bright Answers, with references that are all based on Roxen technology scored highest in the first round and automatically went to the next. In the next round the 5 highest scoring Vendors all had to deliver a concept for the website. A Proof-of-concept (POC) for each entry was published and a community panel of 2,500 residents then ranked the entries within the categories of design, layout, user-friendliness and social media. The entries were also tested and assessed by the website’s editors based on a number of criteria. Bright Answer’s entry received ten out of ten possible points for the new editing tool in Roxen CMS 17, combined with the AppBuilder platform of Bright Answers.

The winning entry from Roxen’s partner in the Benelux countries, Bright Answers, is based on the Roxen CMS 17 content management system, which was launched in December 2016, and the AppBuilder product for web app development.

Roxen’s founders created Sweden’s very first web page back in February 1993, which was also one of the first ten web pages in the world.

» Our mark on internet history puts us under an obligation. So it’s really great any time we receive an acknowledgement that we are continuing to develop and can outcompete other international players in an ambitious procurement process like this», says Per Östlund, CEO of Roxen.

The City of Rotterdam’s aim with its new website is to make information easily available to its residents. The interface should be user-friendly and there should be excellent scope for interaction with social channels.

» After a detailed study of needs we designed an extremely user-friendly solution based on Roxen CMS and our, Roxen based, AppBuilder platform. This is a combination that gives the web editors an easy-to-use user interface and at the same time makes it possible to rapidly create new web applications», says Peter Riemens, founder of Bright Answers.

There has been close collaboration between Roxen and Bright Answers both ahead of and during development of the website. Roxen’s developers have worked hand in hand with the web consultants at Bright Answers and have been directly involved throughout the process to provide support.

» Thanks to the close collaboration with the support and development team at Roxen, we have had the assistance we needed to be able to work closely with the customer to convert their needs into new functionality in record time», he concludes.
