Internet pioneer Roxen turns the page on 20 with new releases, customers and awards

In February 1993, the founders of Roxen created Sweden's very first web page, one of the first ten in the world. Now, Roxen celebrates its first 20 years as a company.

Sweden’s first web page – the Lysator Academic Computer Society at Linköping University. This rendition was captured in 1996.

After creating Sweden's very first web page in February 1993, our founders, then students at the Linköping University, incorporated Roxen and developed a web server (still available as open source) and the Roxen Web CMS. The company has since then remained one of the technology providers in the ecosystem powering the global online movement.

During the last few months Roxen has released new versions of its main products, has been nominated to Red Herring Global 100 and signed contracts with a number of corporations and media houses in Europe, Oceania and The Americas, including the Métro titles of Torstar Corporation and Transcontinental.

– Our ability to constantly re-engineer ourselves is proven by our ability to come out with new products, reach new customer groups and staying on the radar of analysts like Gartner and The Red Herring says Per Östlund, Roxen's CEO.

– In addition to staying relevant over such a long time for corporations like Verizon and Princeton University, we are very proud to have been chosen by major media companies such as Torstar and Transcontinental to provide the technology for core newsroom tasks. With these additions, we now power well over 100 publications across the American continent, from Chile in the South to Canada in the North, Per Östlund continues.
